Once More Unto the Breach Dear Friends

October 26 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Hi all current AGES members and members in the recent past. After many months of restrictions preventing us from physically meeting, I am pleased to announce that our next club meeting (Next Tuesday, Tuesday 26th October) will be in the Hadleigh URC church hall, where from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, I will present Powerpoints on the Roman Road at the URC and a Project Update.

As this is our first meeting back, we have made it a special Covid recovery event under the Lottery grant. This means that it is FREE for this month and you will even get a chocolate cake bar or similar thrown in as refreshments. However, the kitchen will generally be out of bounds, so if you wish to have a cold or hot drink at the break, please bring it with you.

With the continuing rising incidence of Covid infection however, to protect our members and to be allowed by the URC to meet again, we have signed up to the URC risk assessment which means that we will all have to follow the following protocols:

We have to open windows and leave doors open, so please wrap up warm in case the radiant fires do not achieve a reasonable temperature.

(We have been asked to avoid sharing of equipment and materials. After the meeting, some of the committee will remain for a while as we have to clean all plastic chairs, door handles and other fittings that have been touched).

The URC asks us to encourage you to wear face coverings where it is not possible to achieve 1metre separation, so you may well wish to arrive with your mask on.

When arriving, please use the hand sanitiser provided and confirm to Daphne that you are free of any of the recognised Covid symptoms (listed on the poster at the main entrance). She will put a tick next to your name on the attendance register which we have to keep. Any guests will have to give their name and either use the Track and Trace app by scanning or give their telephone contact number.

To maximise the spacing, we are asking couples to take a seat together on the kitchen side of the main aisle and others to sit on the storeroom side of the hall.

Should you wish to use the toilet at any time, the URC require you to wash your hands afterwards and sanitise any surfaces that have been touched including the toilet seat and basin taps.

I hope that you can see that we are taking reasonable precautions, although, as many, if not all, of our attending members have been double vaccinated and many have had boosters, any risk is probably far far less than doing your shopping in Morrisons when the kids are coming out of school.

If you are reading this as a past member who has been unable to join us on Zoom, please do come along this time as a guest as we all try to meet together again for the first time in 18 months.

(Our agm will be held in the hall at the 30th November meeting).

Don’t worry if you can’t make Tuesday’s meeting, I will send copies of my Powerpoints around as usual to members to keep them in the loop. (The special brief Christmas meeting on 21 December and those in January and February will revert to Zoom and the programme of proper monthly meetings at the hall is expected to resume full time in March).
