This AGES club meeting will outline how earlier excavations and geophysical surveys revealed the possibility of a Roman road running through the site. The presentation will explain what has been discovered so far, why it is significant, and how the upcoming dig aims to confirm the road’s existence. Attendees will also receive guidance on safe digging practices and on recognising pottery, tile, or other artefacts that could help date the road.

Interested in joining the dig but not a member? Non‑members are welcome to take part in the excavation or help with pot‑washing. A Temporary Digging Membership (£5) covers all four days of the dig and includes reduced admission (£2.50) to both this meeting and the follow‑up meeting on 25 August, where the findings will be reviewed
