In the 1950s, local schoolboys dug, as schoolboys do, into a bank of earth around a pit deep within West Wood. The pottery they found was kept in boxes for about 70 years before AGES AHA offered to have it professionally identified and dated. The report below reveals what was found and confirmation that the northern area of the wood has been used by man since the Bronze Age, 4,000 years ago.
